H. Russ Brown, Chairman
Mr. Brown founded a prescription benefit management business, Certifax, and built
it to over $100 million in annual sales. In 2000, Walgreens purchased Certifax and
Mr. Brown became the national executive for Walgreens Health Initiatives. Previously,
Mr. Brown was a regional sales executive with IBM. He graduated from Oregon State
University. He currently is an angel investor and serves on a number of boards,
including Pay Less Drugs.
Brett Monello, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Monello is responsible for setting and executing company strategy. He has been
involved in bringing innovative technology-based products and services to market
for more than 20 years across a broad array of industries. Mr Monello has held high-level
marketing, sales, operations and general management positions with both established
firms such as Silicon Graphics Computer Systems and Pixelworks, and with start-up/development
stage companies including Mobilian, NaturalPoint, and Audio-Mojo. He holds a degree
in Economics and Psychology from Stanford University and an MBA from the Harvard
Business School.
Debi Coleman
Ms. Coleman, Managing Partner of SmartForest Ventures, is one of the most recognized
female executives in technology management. Ms. Coleman stepped down as Chairman of the
Board of Merix Corp. (NASDAQ: MERX) in September 2001, having served as Chair since
October 1999, and serving as both CEO/Chair since its spin-out from Tektronix, Inc.
in March 1994 (IPO: May, 1994). Prior to that she was Vice President Materials/Operations
for Tektronix. Ms. Coleman is perhaps best known for her career achievements with Apple
Computer, Inc. where she held the positions of Vice President of Operations, Chief
Financial Officer, and Vice President Information Systems and Technology. Ms. Coleman
serves as an advisor to three venture funds: PacRim Partners (CA); Utah Ventures;
and Alexander Hutton Ventures (Seattle). She has been an active angel investor since
1995 and is a founding member of the Portland Angel Network. She graduated from
Brown University with a BA in English Literature in 1974 and received her MBA from
Stanford University in 1978. She also received an honorary Ph.D in Engineering from
Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1987. Ms. Coleman was named a Henry Crown Fellow
of the Aspen Institute in 1997. She devotes time and energy to several organizations
including the Oregon Arts Commission; Oregon Ballet Theatre; Anita Borg Institute
for Women in Technology; Brown University and International Women’s Forum. Ms. Coleman currently
serves on the boards of Applied Materials Inc.; Synopsys, Inc.; Kryptiq; Neopad;
Teseda; Concero; Phoseon and Reply!.
Pete Grillo
Mr. Grillo has been active in Portland-area high-technology firms for over 20 years.
In May of 2007, Mr. Grillo formed Iterasi, Inc. to build Web 2.0 applications for
the personal archiving and sharing of Web pages. In 1997, Mr. Grillo founded WeSync.com,
a venture-backed web and wireless data synchronization company. WeSync.com became
widely recognized for its’ innovation and advanced technologies, which lead to its
acquisition by Palm, Inc. in February 2001 for $45MM. In 1988, Mr. Grillo co-founded
ProTools, Inc., a venture-backed developer of network management applications acquired
by Network General in 1994 for $30.2MM. Previously he co-founded DWB Associates,
a software consulting firm. Mr. Grillo currently serves as an advisor to the board
of directors of KryptIq Corporation, a provider of Business Process Management (BPM)
solutions to the healthcare industry, and Concero.
Richard D. “Rich” Nelson
Mr. Nelson began his insurance career in Boise with Mutual of New York. In 1982,
he joined Blue Cross of Idaho as a Sales Manager, and in 1986, moved to Blue Shield
of Idaho as vice president of Marketing. In 1991, he became president & CEO of
Blue Shield of Idaho, and in 1995 was a co-founder of The Regence Group.Mr. Nelson
has also served as president and CEO of Pierce County Medical BlueShield and Regence
BlueShield of Washington; chairman of the Regence Group subsidiaries; and in several
roles at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association including the Executive Committee,
BCBSA Brand Committee, and Inter-plan Operations Committee. He currently serves
as a non-investor board member of Primary Health Inc. He earned professional designations
as a Registered Health Underwriter and Certified Health Consultant. A graduate of
Boise State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mr. Nelson served on the
Boise State University Foundation Board and has been recognized as a Distinguished
Alumni. Mr. Nelson recently retired as President & CEO of Combined Benefits Insurance
Company, and President & CEO of Insurance Coordinators of Montana, subsidiaries
of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana, Inc.
